Introduction to the Open Telematics Alliance

The Open Telematics Alliance (OPTA) is an international association to define and develop standardized interface for telematics applications.

OPTA is a non-profit association, founded in 2008 by the ICT Innovation and Evaluation Center of DB Systel GmbH along with the market leaders FELA Management AG and Saphymo S.A. for telematics systems in the rail cargo industry.

The primary focus is to enhance and maintenance the open telematics interface (opti). OPTA creates a platform and community for all future enhancements of the protocol and will ensure interoperability by means of an open industry standard with a high potential for the future.
