Open Telematics Alliance (OPTA) is a telematics industry community effort to develop voluntary open communications specifications and thereby standardize as well as facilitate the use of electronic data exchange for the telematics industry.

These specifications are developed through a consensus building process that encourages the active participation of all development partners’ representatives. Suggestions made at meetings of the Interoperability Committee, the technical working group of OPTA, are therefore likely to be included in open telematics interface (opti) specifications. Member companies and potential member companies should be aware of this and closely review the Articles of Association.

Open Telematics Alliance (OPTA) is the owner of opti specifications (optiSMS/optiXML/optiWSN), and each member company grants the Open Telematics Alliance (OPTA) the right to sublicense to other member companies, their affiliates, and end users, a non-exclusive, royalty-free license as defined in the Articles of Association and License Agreement.
